NEDBANK RUNIFIED X STRAVA

During the Coronavirus period, it became more important than ever to keep active in order to protect peoples wellbeing. With all physical running events cancelled, gyms being abandoned and all other Nedbank sponsorship and event related activity off, we wanted to respond, using the running club platform to provide a positive solution and distraction from the situation we were all having to deal with.

In addition to that, professional athletes had their opportunity for prize money income slashed over night.

CREATIVE

Our solution and campaign was ‘Nedbank Runified’ – a running platform where you run alone, yet together, virtually as a community.

We partnered with Strava and set up a series of challenges over a five month period ranging from 5km to 21km.

Nedbank Running Club members earned cash prizes for top ten finishes across each of the distances, creating content and news around the unique proposition. While the public earned Strava milestones and surprise and delight participation prizes along the way.

IMPACT

+11k Nedbank Running Club members on Strava – largest branded virtual running club on the continent. From a base level of 0 at the start of 2020.
