Energade’s 2019 national teams campaign, Fuelling South African Heroics, culminated in a multi-platform execution around the Boks at the 2019 Rugby World Cup as we closed the loop.


The campaign was led by the ‘Japan awaits heroics’ broadcast and digital video piece that showed current Boks being inspired by previous heroes, as they prepared to emulate past glories, thanks to great preparation (and hydration).

Once the players left for Japan, Schalk Burger, became the face of the movement as he covered and unpacked what went into pulling off heroics and reacted from the tournament. It was delivered through a series of content pieces where Schalk predicted scores, match results, team performances and post match comments. Additionally  a SuperSport broadcast tool allowed pundits to view (and analyse) heroic moments from each match during the tournament from a unique angle.

Energade match activations at Bok Town brought things full circle as fans were able to take on Heroic skills based challenges to earn themselves an Energade, while meeting Bok players that didn’t make the trip to Japan.
